Say hello to Shirune (白音/シルネ)—the official mascot of Music Makers Tokyo.
She wasn't always a fox. She was born from the accumulated creative energy of Tokyo's music creators scene, taking physical form wherever music makers gather to share their work. One moment there was just sound, passion, and a whole lot of people making things—and then there she was.
Honestly, Tokyo still overwhelms her a little. There's so much happening. A producer in a tiny apartment layering synths at 2am. Someone busking near the station with a guitar they just learned. A band crammed into a rehearsal studio working out a new song. She wants to hear all of it.
She carries a biwa on her back because traditional Japanese instruments are her first love—but the headphones are just as important. She's curious about everything. House, folk, ambient, noise, stuff she can't even name yet. If someone made it, she wants to know how it sounds.
Her name means "white sound." Her fur started out pure white, like a blank canvas. But here's the thing: every time she hears a music maker share their work, a strand of her fur picks up a little color. Over time, she's becoming a living record of everyone who's been part of MMT—each creator leaving a small mark.
You'll start seeing her around on our posts and at events. Say hi when you do.
